CAUSES OF MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT INSOMNIA
Most of us feel difficulty in sleep at the middle of night or they just awake in the middle of night and then can not sleep again. But if it occurs often then it will disturb your daily routine activities including thinking ability, relationships, health and work. So in other words, we can also say it late night insomnia. If it occurs with most of the time then you must see your doctor.

OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA:
- Ø In this breathing stops for almost 10 to 60 seconds during the night. Brain becomes active after this condition and you may fall after a short time of this condition. But it may happen again and again which may then disturb your sleep.
Ø So as a result it will keeps you sluggish for the whole day due to lack of sleep.
Ø The complications of this condition are: high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.
Ø The symptoms of this condition are: loud snoring, gasping etc.
RESTLESS LEGS SYNDROME:
Ø If you are suffering from this condition and you may feel urge to move your legs.
Ø Many of the Americans are now the victim of this syndrome.
PERIODIC LIMB MOVEMENT DISORDER:
Ø The people who are suffering from RLS mostly experience this disorder.
Ø It occurs at the middle of night and usually lasts for 20 to 40 seconds.
Ø So it causes disturbance in sleep.
CAFFEINE:
Ø The stimulating effect of caffeine usually lasts for eight hours.
Ø And if you are taking caffeine at late night then surely you will face difficulty in sleep.
Ø Because it helps in releasing a brain chemical which helps in awakening.
Ø So if you are facing such issues due to caffeine then you have to limit your number of coffee cups.
ALCOHOL:
Ø Apparently it seems that alcohol causes drowsiness and triggers sleep.
Ø But actually it causes late night awakening and if it is used regularly then it will convert this awakening into insomnia.
OVER THE COUNTER AND PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS:
Ø We all know that medications have side effects but only a few of us are aware of this fact that some medicines also causes insomnia.
Ø These medicines include caffeine containing medicines, beta blockers, decongestants and steroids.
Ø So if you are facing sleep problems then you must have to visit your doctor.
NICOTINE:
Ø Like caffeine, nicotine is also brain stimulant and it disturbs sleep cycle.
Ø So smokers can also face difficulty in sleep due to nicotine in smoke.
STRESS:
Ø Stress is closely associated with insomnia. It creates restless state in mind which badly affects sleep cycle.
Ø Those patients who are going through anxiety, depression and mental stress may experience insomnia.
DROP IN PROGESTERONE:
Ø Hormonal imbalance may also cause insomnia such as high level of progesterone before menstruation, low level of progesterone before menopause.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS:
Ø Some persons face difficulty in sleep when they are suffering from diseases such as ulcer, high blood pressure, heart failures, body pain etc.
